In the dynamic landscape of business operations, safeguarding your cooling tower water against legionella is paramount. WMW Laboratory provides comprehensive legionella testing services, providing a critical line of defense against potential health risks and regulatory compliance issues.
Legionella bacteria pose a significant threat when present in a workplace or any other building where water is present. Some studies have found that Legionella pneumonia is a rare kind of lung infection caused by Legionella bacteria, often leading to problems in various body organs. If not treated specifically for Legionella, delayed diagnosis can result in a higher chance of death.
To find Legionella in the environment, there are various methods, and one common way is through incubation. The WMW Laboratory specializes in a method using a bacterial enzyme to detect Legionella, showing its presence through a brown color indicator. The number of color-changing wells determines the quantity, with the Legiolert test detecting Legionella at a low concentration within 7 days.
WMW Laboratory follows the ISO11731:2017 standard method, recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), to manage the risk of Legionella bacteria in water systems through culture testing.
Today, our team of expert scientists from WMW Laboratory had an exciting visit to a prominent tower in Port Moresby. They carefully examined the engineering of the cooling tower and went on to check for legionella bacteria throughout the entire system. This effort is a win-win, ensuring that health and safety standards are maintained for commercial buildings, facilities, industrial plants, hospitality, and management facilities.
This initiative is elevating the health and safety standards for Papua New Guinea through scientific testing and certification.
